Oregon Trip

Oregon

I got to say, this is one of the best home made videos I have ever seen. It almost makes me want to pick up a GOPRO and travel to the Oregon trail this summer for some cycling fun. Props to my cousin and his friends for taking such amazing footage. Great work and I would definitely recommend that you guys check this video out.

Online Dating...

"Ok. Um, after sending 10 messages to you. What now?"

Is it me or is online dating the new trend that everyone loves and everyone forgets. That's what it appears to me. Especially when you go through all of the hussle and tussle of just filling out your account information, which alone could take up an hour or two. Not only that, but you will also notice the instant gratification of seeing potential matches, whom of which will most likely never respond to your messages. Has it come to this? To where we see photos and profiles of people to whom we have no chance of ever meeting or speaking to? This is just from my experience and I can tell you, it is already hard meeting people in L.A., and now the problem is compounded when you are on the internet without a chance in hell of talking to someone half decent. Take for example the website OKcupid, I only use this site because it is free and I get to message people without ever having to pay a dime. So I thought to myself, "Perfect!" But what I didn't realize was that once I got on, even though I found several potential matches, only a few would deem me to be a potential mate and respond to my messages. It almost feels as if dating in itself has become even more annoying.

So, what is the problem? Is it society as a whole that contributes to this lackluster approach to dating?
I have met other people outside of Los Angeles, and to me, it appears to be a lot easier to meet and get to know one another once I ventured outside of SoCal. And from this experience alone, I can tell you, with a definitive YES. That I do believe that the society that we live in, especially within the confines of Los Angeles, people have become so self absorbed with their own needs and their own petty selfishness, that they have isolated themselves from each other. I think the only person to blame are those who take in this so-called  life style that is Los Angeles. We are the ones to blame, and that is not to say that I am not apart of this, I also take fault in this elitism that is LA. But, I have already evolved, and I have come to realize that there is more to life; more to a partner then appearance, social status, job and so forth. It is the fundamental chemistry that we all share as human beings. This chemistry is what makes and creates these relationships that we seek and without it, there is nothing but an empty shell. So yes, I am still using OKcupid, and I am willing to try Chemistry.com, and I am still single...

Stephen Colbert is hilarious!

I was watching Stephen Colbert the other day, and if you haven't seen the show, you should certainly do. He is so darn funny! Anywho, enough of the free advertising, he was discussing how an old renaissance painting in a spanish church was recently restored by an amateur artist without the church's permission! Apparently she took it upon herself to do the painting without realizing that the church just received a donation from the original artist's distant relative to restore it. You can see the before and after photo below. Tell me if you can see the difference...

Here's a short news reel about the painting:

Johnny Cash

You know when I was a young one, I never really knew much about country music. But if I was asked to name a country music singer, one name comes to mind, and that name is Johnny Cash. This guy has the goods and when I heard the song "hurt," I will never to this day forget the way it sounded. You are all probably wondering why I am talking about the great Johnny Cash. Well here's why, just a few moments ago, I stumbled upon something today that totally freaked me out. At first I thought it was some video game over my radio play list on Hypem, but when I heard the melody, I instantly knew who it was. Good o'l Johnny Cash. So here I'd thought to share this nice little remix for your listening pleasure. Keep in mind, love it or hate it, it does have a very unique twist. A lot like the twists you see in the Zelda games that we all use to play when SNES was the shiz. Hope you enjoy.

It's been a long time...

I took a litte hiatus since work has been crazy. But I am glad to finally trail blaze my way back on here. While I was away, I have been listening to some great music lately and there is this one particular song that has me rolling, and when I say rolling I meant in a literal sense. (No drug use was involved.)
This artist goes by the name of Electric Guest, and you may have heard of them when they made their debut with "This head I hold." And I got to say, the lead singer has this "hold" of you (no pun intended) as he sings. Did I forget to say that he also has a dash of Prince in him? I am certainly sold and so should you. Check out the track yourself and let me know.

Marching Band!

For those of you who don't know this, being in a marching band can be one of the geekiest things a high schooler can ever experience. I for one know; since I was one of them! However, after watching this video, marching bands have redeemed themselves and has forever made being a geek 'cool'. Perhaps it's not so bad being in a marching band after all...That is the only way you can get the ladies. Am I right?

I so want to go back to being in a marching band again. (Minus the bullying and acne.)

I'm a fan of Hoodie Allen!

Fresh off the street from NYC, I bring to you: Hoodie Allen. This guy is for real. Love how he raps. When I first caught wind of this song, I was taken back by its catchy melody and feel good lyrics. His  debut song "No Faith in Brooklyn,"definitely has that nice poppy sound to it and will stick in your head for weeks to come. If you are looking to be cheered up, then this song can take you there. Enjoy!

Exchange LA

If you ever decide to go to Downtown LA, it is certainly the place to be. There are abundance of bars and night clubs that you can visit. Not to mention the eateries they have during the day. But that's for another time. What I will be talking about is one of the many night clubs that adorn the Downtown area, and this one in particular is called Exchange LA.

So here's the low down:
If you don't mind asian clubs, then this could be the place for you. However, keep in mind that it is an Asian club on Saturday nights. And the type of music they play is house. So if you are not into Asian clubs or house, then this is not the place for you. One good thing about this club is its large size! It is definitely a lot bigger than your normal Hollywood clubs, and it definitely brings you that vegas feel without the hefty price tag. Guest list is open until 10:30 p.m., and it is FREE, which is the best part. Get there early then you pay no cover charge. But get in after that then you gotta pay the $20.00 minimum. They also have express lines, but that will set you back $30.00, just so you can simply cut the line. And they also offer the usual table service. Parking is easy to find, especially on the street that it's on. One of the perks of being in Downtown LA is the fact that it lacks the price gouging in Hollywood. You will see on average a $5-10 parking fee on the same street as the venue. Drinks are typical of clubs but strong enough. They also have a patio area for you smokers. Overall, I would recommend it if you just want to go to a place that's not to expensive and easy to get into. I for one hate waiting in line and especially hate the egotistical clubs where the door man eye's you and sees if you are worthy of entering. So if you want a place that is easy on the wallet and easy to get in, this place is definitely where you want to go on a Saturday.

Pros:
-Free to get in before 10:30 p.m. (That is if you are on the guest list.)
-Cheap parking
-Asian club
-Plays decent house music
-Live performances
-Dress code isn't strict. (Just as long as you look good.)
-Large dance floor
-Cheap bottle service ($199.00 for two bottles)

Cons:
- Drinks aren't cheap
-It's primarily an Asian club. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
-Plays primarily house music. (Again not necessarily bad thing.)

Brunch'n...

My friend recently introduced me to this place in LA called Larchmont Bungalow, and it's located in Korea town/Downtown in this little area called Larchmont. I have been to Larchmont (The area) on a few occasions and I never really liked it that much. However, what made this trip so different was the little cafe down the street called Larchmont Bungalow. When I arrived, I immediately fell in love with the cafe and with the neighborhood. The interior was trendy, and it looked like another one of those fancy cafes. But what set it aside from the other trendy cafes was it's incredible brunch items...(And I can honestly say, it wasn't the nice shops that sold me either.) Inside, everyone was super nice and it is a great place to chill. There is this cool vibe that I get when I go there, and I can tell you, it definitely attracted me to it. Now I am hooked and I can't stop going there. What makes this place so interesting is that you can totally tell that this place is where the hipsters hangout. Nothing wrong against them, but it's the vibe that I get. (And now I totally love it.) Now back to the food! GO THERE FOR BREAKFAST! Sooooo GOOD. Especially their Eggs Benedict and order the "Mole" Eggs Benedict! (My absolute favorite!) You won't be disappointed. The prices here are fair and the portions are very generous. So don't worry about coming and going hungry.

                                                                  Ain't it beautiful?

*Tip: The area on weekdays tend to have hard-to-find parking, especially on the street. So I would definitely recommend going on a Sunday, since there is free parking offered in their public parking garage.

What a bunch of jokers...

My friend not too long ago introduced me to this new sketch comedy show called Key & Peele. I was hesitant at first because I thought it was trying to be like the Chappelle Show. But after watching a few episodes, I was convinced it was something quite different, and the hosts are actually pretty funny. Check out this short clip and see for yourself.

Heat Wave...

What a hot day it was...Is it me or has this weather been acting rather strange...One day it's cold, and the next it's scorching hot. Is nature trying to conserve energy by turning the a/c on and off?   ( I think so.) Well whatever it is, let's just be thankful for the warm weather, sun, and enjoy the weekend. Also, I've included another hot jam for you all to listen to. (No pun intended.) Happy Friday.

Leaving Las Vegas

Went to Vegas over the weekend and I have to say, It is always a fun time when you go with good people. I can honestly say that I've never had so much to drink in one entire weekend. I think it was around 7 shots in one night...And the clubs...Oh wow. The clubs in Vegas are awesome as usual.
The only negative I could think of is the fact that I got kind of sick and ended up not being able to go to work on Monday. But hey, it was all worth it. I've paid my dues and I thought it was a worthwhile trip.

On Saturday night, the club we all decided to go to is called Marquee. It's located at the Cosmopolitan Hotel, and that hotel alone is one of the sexiest on the strip. There are so many gorgeous looking girls strolling around, even though it was opened last year, it still looks brand new. Very modern, and very chic. The only draw back is the price tag that comes a long with the hotel stay. I would say around the $250-350 range depending on which days. And did I forget to mention that this hotel looks simply crazy! They have some of the weirdest and cool looking decorations inside the lobby and throughout the hotel. From the digital wall columns to the odd looking sculptures...This is one cool looking hotel!

My drunk friend playing with the sculptures.

                                                           Now do you believe me?

It was a long drive back from Vegas, and even though the weekend was too short, and I got sick, this entire experience was worth it. If you want a short weekend escape, Vegas is certainly the place to go. Only 4 hours from L.A., although it may sound far, it's really not so bad if you have the right friends to accompany you on the trip. So...

                                                               Drink up my friends.

Mash-up of the day.

Don't you just love these mash-ups? You know I do. Found this pretty penny on the interwebs not too long ago. I love Kanye West, and I love M83. So why not mash it up?!

In the mean while, aren't you all glad that Valentine's day is over? I got sick to my stomach from all of that romantic bull sh#@! The only real holiday that matters is Halloween. Can't wait for that!
So would you rather have this?
Or this:

You decide.

A case of the Mondays...

Here is a song I found that could make your mood a little bit better and prepare you for another Monday of work....

I figured now that we are all almost done with work, this little snippet can make our drive back home a little more tolerable...(Just something to think about when you do your next sexual harassment training.)

Party until the break of dawn.

Just got back from the bar and just had the sudden urge to post on here. I still can't believe I'm not sleepy yet.  It was a good night though, Bodegas Wine Bar is always popping with a good crowd and good cheap liquor! I would definitely recommend it for those of you who haven't been. It's on Sunset Blvd. and Vine in Hollywood.  Oh and one more thing. Found a jam that can definitely put you in the mood. A definite download for sure. Enjoy!

Hot girls and sports.

I love hot girls. What's even better is if they can play sports, especially with me.

I love ART.

This guy is one of my favorite artists. It is very simple yet very pleasing to the eyes. Abstract? No.

Happy Friday!

Here's my Friday song for you all to enjoy. (And no, it's not THAT song.)

Why is Gas and everything else so damn expensive?!

Growing up, I have taken the smallest things for granted living in a small city. Free parking, meter maids that don't care whether or not you parked 10 minutes over the meter. And oh yes, the nice mom and pop shops. However, the only thing you can't escape is the rising gas prices...I know I am beating the drum too many times and we've all heard it before...But this time I am really surprised to see it go this high everywhere I go. When I saw this on the L.A. Times [pictured below] Will there ever be a time where we can make enough money to live on the rising costs of these essential items? Gas, food and beer? Whelp, I guess I will be either taking the bus or looking for a hybrid this year.

New blogger...

I think that this is really cool to be able to blog on here. I haven't blogged much these days and I really appreciate the views and thank you for reading my posts. I will have more to come...And for now here is a crazy picture for you all to view...(And yes, it is real and I have a youtube video to prove it.)

First post with a new jam...

This is my very very very first post on here, and I have to tell you, I am excited! (Yay for me!) Anyways, with the celebration aside, I am excited to start blogging because I never really blog, and to say that I am blogging now is a real first step. I hope I will be able to get enough people reading this to make it worthwhile for you. Now enough with me blabbering on about my first blog post. What is this new jam that I speak of? Well here it is, feel free to check it out in the music video below. The artist goes by the name of G-Eazy. This guy's got some talent and a good ear for hit songs. (This song is already a hit with me!) Unfortunately I haven't been able to set up a download link yet, so just sit tight while I will try to get that sorted out later. Enjoy!
